TEN WAYS TO ZOOM

  1. Zoom Tool   ( )  – Select the Zoom tool (P) in the tool bar and the click on the canvas anywhere to zoom in by pre-defined increments (i.e.,25%, 33.33%, 50%, 66.67%, 100% 150%, 300%, etc) . Add ALT key to zoom out by 100% increment.
  2. Combo Box Zoom – Select a zoom level (3.13% to 6400%) from the combo box at the bottom of the window or type in a number into the combo box text field and press Enter key.
  3. Keyboard Zoom – Press:
    1. CTRL+ + to Zoom In
    2. CTRL + -  to Zoom Out
    3. CTRL + 0 to Fit Artboard in Window
    4. CTRL + ALT + 0 to Fit All in Window
    5. CTRL + 1 to show Actual Size (100%)
  4. Menu Zoom – Select View from main menu and then select (Keybboard counterparts) 
    1. Zoom In
    2. Zoom Out
    3. Fit Artboard in Window
    4. Fit All in Window
    5. Actual Size
  5. Navigator Panel Zoom – Select Window > Navigator from the main menu and the click on the zoom in or zoom out button or use the slider.
  6. Toolbar Zoom – Double-click on the hand tool to fit artboard in window or double-click on the zoom tool to show actual size (100%)
  7. Mouse Scroller – Press the ALT key and "turn" the mouse's middle scroll button to zoom in or zoom out.
  8. Temporary Zoom using Keyboard Modifiers – Select CTRL+Spacebar to TEMPORARY select zoom in tool. Add ALT key to temporary select zoom out tool. This is a good technque to use because the currently active tool is not replace with the zoom tool. Instead the zoom tool is temporarily activated WHILE the current tool is active. This is a great technique becauase you do not have to use two hands to press two key stokes (i.e., CTRL + 1) or you don't have to use the menu.
  9. Selective Zoom (best technique when used in conjunction with the temporary zoom technique) – Use the keyboard modifier keys to enable the temporary zoom tool and then drag a marquee around object or place in image that you want to zoom to in the image.
  10. Saved View Zoom – Use the Selective Zoom technique mentioned above and save it as a view by selecting View > New View...  and give it a name in the Save View dialog box and then click OK.  To see this zoomed view, select View > [ViewName] from the main menu. This technique is best used for very large artwork.
